InsightIDR is a core product available on Rapid7 Insight’s platform, making security information and event management systems (SIEM) capabilities fully available as a cloud-based, Software as a Service (SaaS) tool. Thanks to the hybrid cloud system architecture, it can be highly scaled according to the volume of monitored infrastructure and the volume of data processed. Rapid7 insightIDR has comprehensive UBA (User Behavier Analytics) and ABA (Attacker Behavier Analytics) functionality using hundreds of predefined, configurable security rules created by the manufacturer’s specialists to detect events.
InsightIDR implements its functionality by collecting data from firewalls, other network security tools, system software responsible for user authentication (AD, DHCP), and privileged software agents installed on users’ computers. The collected data is securely transmitted in real time to a database hosted on Amazon Web Service (AWS), in which users, user accounts, network resources and authentication data are aggregated. As a result, user behavior patterns can be analyzed and mapped, as well as signs of possible data breach can be identified.
